Letterform design project:
Date: October 26 2016
What is a letterform design?
A letterform design is a graphic form of a letter of the alphabet either written or in a particular type font.
What was your job as the designer?
My job as the designer was to use my knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Letterform deigns and the elements of design to create 9 unique letterform designs all with different requirements that had to be met.
What were some of the challenges you faced during this project?
Some of the challenges I faced during this project would be thinking of designs that were unique and getting to know all of the controls of the computer. With every design it was hard to think of something that was different from everyone else’s and still met the requirements of that box. I’ve never used Adobe Illustrator before for this class nor have I used any of the shortcuts on a Mac before so getting used to them took some practice.
Do you feel you successfully completed the project? Why or why not?
I feel that I did not successfully complete this project because I know that some of my designs could still use some tweaking and others could be a lot stronger. For example, in box number 7 I could have made my design portray “stampede” better by changing the design or in box number 2 I could have made the design more asymmetrical by tweaking the size of the design.
If you can change something about the project what would it be and why?
One thing I would change about this project would be my dripping design. I feel that that particular design did not come out the way I planned and doesn’t portray dripping strongly enough.
