How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of Magazine Design and the parts of a magazine cover and interior?

My design that I created demonstrates my knowledge of Magazine Design by making sure the interior matched the cover by using the same colors and making sure the pictures matched. I also worked to make sure that all the fonts and colors were paired properly. I also made sure all the requirements were all met to make sure it would look like a professional magazine.

In what ways does your magazine connect to the corporate identity of the magazine? What are some design queues that you used from the existing magazine?

My magazine connects to the coporate identity of Entertainment weekly through the fonts I used and through my placement of headlines. I also connected to the magazine through my cover photo and headline. Entertianment weekly is a magainze that deals with celebrity stories so I took that into account when making choices during this project. I pulled colors and fonts from existing magazines. I also took the idea of using a “+” to take an idea from an existing magazine.

How did completing the brainstorming packet and sketches affect your design process?

Completing the brain storming packet and sketches affected my design process because it helped me slow down and think about how I was going to execute all my ideas and it helped slowed me down and think about what was important to include and what was too much. Doing the sketches helped me think about the positioning of my headlines and how to use my spacing effecicently.

How did you like working with a partner? How do you think working with a partner makes the design process easier and more difficult?

I enjoyed working with a partner. It made the design process a lot easier because we could bounce ideas off of eachother rather than have to think of it all by ourselves. It was also good because if I ever got stuck or didn’t know how to something my partner was there to help me.

Looking at your partner’s design, if you were to design your partner’s portion by yourself how would it look different? What would you have changed?

If I had designed my partners portion of the project I would look similar because we came up with a lot of the ideas together. I may have chosen to bring in the color of Viola Davis’ dress into the folio to bring the color in more. The only thing I may have changed is the size of the pictures and made them a little bigger.

Describe the ideal partner (co-worker / co –designer)?

My ideal partner would work well with me. They would have similar ideas as me but be able to give constructive critisim at the same time. An ideal partner would not just agree with me if they don’t agree with me but suggest how I could change for the better. I would also like to be friends with my partner so that working together is fun not stressful.
